Making Difficult Decisions

When I work with clients who are facing a difficult decision (ex: Option A vs. Option B), and they're not sure what to do, I ask them this one question...

"If I told you today, your decision had to be Option B, how do you feel?"

Disappointed?

Sad?

Relieved?

Happy?

And, for my analytical clients, before I ask the question, I will ask them to close their eyes and place their hands on their heart (cameras off if zoom).

- Please note, I am the Queen of Analytical thinking so this one felt strange at first for me too.

You see, when we make decisions using only our brain, we stay stuck in the 'thinking' part, so it's easy to have the pros and cons bouncing back and forth. But when you take a moment to 'feel' or try on each option, sometimes what you want becomes clearer.

Our bodies send us clues, we just have to be willing to listen.

And, if I happen to get the response, "I don't know," my follow-up question is, "It's a year from now you had decided on Option A - what's here for you? Option B?"

What strategies do you use when you have to make a difficult decision?
