Sometimes, we take on roles or jobs that put us in the direct path of criticism - could be a public service role, could be a leadership role, could be working the register at the local grocery store.
Why is it, people feel the need to be hyper critical of others? (Even if they don’t know them, don't have the full story or the person they are targeting hasn’t done anything wrong.)
That somehow making someone else feel small makes them feel larger. Put that same critical person behind a keyboard and social media or email and they act like they’re behind armor.
My advice to those on the receiving end? Let me share a great quote by Scott Stratten.
"Don't try to win over the haters. You're not the jackass whisperer."
That’s right. The world is full of jackasses. Don’t waste your energy on them. They have no power over you, only insecurities.
