Another way that starting a small business is like starting a family: you'll always remember the good stuff, and the bad or challenging stuff seems to melt away.
Okay, so that's not 100% true. However, the hard things certainly make you stronger, so maybe it's that they turn into lessons rather than disappear completely.
There's no shortage of possibilities and opportunities in starting a business. You remember creating your first business card, launching your first website, going to your first networking event as a business owner, signing your first client, sending your first invoice, and getting that first payment. The exhilaration that comes with each step is similar to the milestones that your children go through.
There's also a bunch of stuff that you don't prepare for, despite everyone's advice. Losing that first big client. Investing money or time in something that turns out to be a bust. But, you learn that you never waste a good failure, so you take what you can from the experience and move on. Again, not much different from parenthood! 😂
Business owners and parents: anything I'm missing here?
