One of the many reasons I enjoy my executive coaching work is because I get a charge out of being of service to those serving others.
As a society, we don't really think about CEOs and execs as having a serve-first mindset, do we? But there are many out there. Servant leaders are an incredible bunch—they take the traditional leadership model and turn it upside down, putting their people at the very top and them at the bottom. They serve the employees above them, and that's the way they like it.
Coaching someone who's focused on uplifting and empowering those who work for them is a really special thing. They're incredibly intuitive—servant leaders know when something isn't right. They may not always know what it is, or what they need to do—but they have the awareness to know they need help.
That's where I come in. By asking powerful questions, I can help them see the situation from different perspectives or how the situation aligns or is in conflict with their values. That way, they can put purpose over profit, and be confident in their decision. Knowing that when the first one is prioritized, the latter almost always follows.
